Book Clubs

A Good Book

Why Book Clubs Matter

I’ve always believed that stories are meant to be shared, and that’s why I have such a special place in my heart for book clubs. To me, they’re not just groups of readers—they’re communities. Book clubs bring people together around the table, or on a Zoom call, to talk about more than characters and plot twists. They create space for connection, for new perspectives, and for conversations that sometimes surprise even the author who wrote the book.

Part of the conversation

As someone who writes women’s fiction, I know how deeply readers connect to themes of resilience, love, family, and identity. In a book club setting, these stories take on new life. Readers share how a character’s struggles remind them of their own, or how a passage gave them hope during a difficult time. Those moments of recognition and empathy are exactly why I write—and why I love being part of the conversation.

Finding Inspiration

Visiting with book clubs is one of the greatest joys of my work. Whether it’s talking about Saving Raine, Someone Like Me, or The Caged Butterfly, I’m always inspired by the thoughtful questions, the laughter, and even the debates that arise. Hearing how my characters resonate with readers reminds me that storytelling is a two-way experience. I may create the words, but you—the readers—bring them to life with your voices, your experiences, and your insights.

The Visit

When I visit a book club, I don’t see it as giving a lecture. I see it as sitting down with friends, sharing stories, and learning from each other.

The Journey

Book clubs matter because they turn reading into something communal and lasting. And for me, being part of that shared journey is truly an honor.
